Forklift Operator Certification

Course outline:

Develop the knowledge and skill needed to safely operate and control forklifts.

Practise and correct your driving techniques in an increasingly complex set of conditions, so that you are capable of successfully undertaking your licence test. the length of each stage of learning depends on the amount of practice you have had.

Be sure you are confident and competent before moving on to the next stage. Your instructor will advise you when you are ready to move on. How fast and how much you learn will depend on you.

  • Observing the operations being performed by your instructor    and on your work site
  • Practising the new skills included in this handbook
  • Undertaking the assessment tasks on completion of the training. if there is anything in this handbook you do not understand or do not agree with, do not be afraid to ask your instructor for assistance.

Excavator Operator Training

The hydraulic excavator course provides training and practical hands-on operation in a range of excavation work processes. Those intending to operate the excavator or new excavator operators should attend this course.


This course aims to equip both new and inexperienced workers with the knowledge and skills on the safe operation and basic maintenance of the hydraulic excavator.


Two third of the course will focus on practical excavator operation such as routine inspections, digging, trenching, backfilling, levelling, machine traveling etc. The other onethird comprises of classroom lectures. The course will cover the following topics:-

- General knowledge on earthworks and surveying- Principal components, power and transmission systems of an excavator

- Daily inspection and weekly maintenance of the excavator

- Pre-start and shut-down procedures

- Trenching, ditching and slope cutting techniques

- How to maintain stability in operation

- Good practices for backfilling, travelling and loading

excavated materials onto vehicle

- Safety requirements

- Interpret drawings, calculate earth quantities, levels, slopes

and width of excavations.


Shovel Operator Certification:

This course is designed to train the basic skill requirements and associated job safety knowledge of Loading Shovels.
